Usually hunting is carried out at night in the wild. In order to better find and track targets during wild night hunting, how to choose night vision equipment has become one of the first problems for hunting enthusiasts. So what kind of night vision equipment should you have or use for personal hunting? Today we will talk in detail about how to choose night vision equipment for personal hunting.
1. The respective advantages of night vision devices and infrared thermal imaging cameras
(1) Night vision scope (VA-QMY202)
In theory, it is a better choice. The night vision scope has the functions of both a sight and a night vision device. Through the night vision scope, you can see the prey in the dark and aim and shoot. The experience will be better, and no additional wearing is required, making it easy to use. However, generally speaking, the price of night vision scopes is not very cheap. The first-generation products cost more than 800 US dollars, and the second-generation ones cost more than 2,000 US dollars. At the same time, night vision scopes also need to pay attention to the use and installation of supporting equipment. After buying night vision scopes, many people find that they cannot be used with their own hunting tools, so they cannot be used.
(2) Monocular night vision device (VA-PVS-14)
The monocular night vision device is a more convenient night vision device for hunting. At the same time, because it is handheld and can be magnified, it has a longer observation distance. If the distance exceeds 100 meters, it is recommended to use a handheld night vision device. The monocular night vision device is small in size, light in weight and high in definition, making it the best partner for outdoor hunting.
(3) Infrared thermal imager (VA-C640)
The infrared thermal imager passively accepts the infrared heat radiation of the target and has nothing to do with climate conditions. It can work normally no matter day or night, and it is not easy to expose the target. It has unique advantages that cannot be compared with other equipment. If the prey is hiding behind bushes or trees, the target can also be easily spotted. Moreover, when an emergency occurs when team members become separated during outdoor hunting activities, the infrared thermal imaging camera can be used to search for the team members. Its super night vision function can effectively penetrate smoke, and it can conduct search and rescue even in heavy fog environments where you can't see your fingers. It is very powerful. However, infrared thermal imaging cameras are large in size and not very convenient to carry and use.
2. Performance requirements for night vision equipment during wild hunting
(1) As a hunting night vision device, it is first required that the observation distance of the night vision device or thermal imager can reach a reasonable distance. If the distance of the prey you hunt is generally within 40 meters, you can clearly observe the target in relatively dark conditions, and you do not need to use an infrared transmitter, which will not affect the prey, which can improve the success rate of hunting.
Since the hunting environment is generally very dark, general night vision devices cannot be used if the distance exceeds 50 meters, because the infrared auxiliary light source can generally only reach 50 meters at a distance. In this case, an infrared thermal imaging camera is a good choice.
(2) The light source of the infrared transmitter should not be too strong. A light source that is too strong can easily arouse the vigilance of prey.
(3) Hunting in the wild, long distances, and complex environments. Therefore, the equipment needs to be small in size, light in weight, waterproof and dustproof, scratch-proof, and easy to carry.
(4) When using night vision equipment for hunting, you should first choose a night vision equipment with better imaging effect in low light conditions. After all, when we hunt outdoors in daily life, there will be more moonlight and starlight.
