Infrared night vision devices and low-light night vision devices are actually misunderstood by everyone. There are some low-light night vision devices on the market also been called infrared low-light night vision devices, also been called infrared night vision devices. This kind of name make it is easy for consumers to misunderstand, and it also leads to many laymen and friends who do not understand to mislead them with wrong information.
According to formal terms, infrared night vision devices are only divided into "active infrared night vision devices" and "passive infrared night vision devices". "Active infrared night vision devices" are what we commonly call "low-light night vision devices", and those with IR Function, that is, a night vision device that emits infrared rays. Currently, almost all active infrared night vision devices in the world have low-light and IR functions, including the first-generation night vision devices. There is no such thing as advanced night vision. The instrument has two functions: infrared and low light.
"Passive infrared night vision device" is what we commonly call "infrared thermal imager". The actual formal name is infrared night vision device, but now this name is mixed with low-light night vision device and called night vision device, so we call this passive infrared night vision device called infrared thermal imager, also It's a thermal imaging camera.
The difference between infrared night vision and low-light night vision
The difference between the two types of night vision devices is that the active one illuminates the object through the IR of the night vision device itself, and then reflects the infrared light to the objective lens of the night vision device, or illuminates the object through natural starlight and then reflects it to the object. Objective lens, the image is seen through the image intensifier tube in the night vision device. Passive night vision devices image through infrared radiation emitted by the object itself. The key to the two is that one is reflected by the object and the other is spontaneously emitted by the object.
The difference between low-light night vision and infrared thermal imaging cameras
The field of view of a low-light night vision device is round, while the field of view of a thermal imager is square.
If you have used ordinary digital night vision devices, you will find that the observation experience between digital night vision devices and ordinary infrared night vision devices (low-light night vision devices) is completely different. This is because general infrared night vision devices (low-light night vision devices) observe the target directly through the lens, so the field of view is the same as that of the telescope, which is circular. Digital night vision devices are electronic. In fact, what your eyes see is the image on the internal LCD screen, rather than directly seeing the target, so the field of view you see is square. Thermal imaging night vision devices are the same as digital night vision devices in this regard. Whether it is a handheld thermal imaging night vision device (the LCD screen is outside the machine) or a telescopic thermal imaging night vision device, the field of view is square and Instead of seeing the target directly, you see the image on the LCD screen. So thermal imagers are all digital.
The effect of ordinary digital night vision devices cannot be compared with thermal imagers, nor can it be compared with ordinary night vision devices of the 2nd generation+. But the effect of the third-generation digital night vision device is the real third-generation night vision device, and the field of view is the same as that of the thermal imager. The display effects are different between the two.
