Influence of infrared thermal imaging refrigeration technology

The cooling of electrical devices is inseparable from low-temperature technology, especially infrared technology, which has developed rapidly due to its special status in weapons and equipment.

1. Infrared early warning and surveillance

After the Gulf War, various countries have developed anti-missile technology and are committed to developing ballistic missile defense systems. Infrared detection technology plays a key role in missile launch early warning. It includes spaceborne infrared early warning detection systems, airborne and shipborne anti-missile infrared detection and early warning systems, all of which require highly reliable Stirling refrigerators or other types of refrigerators as cold sources for infrared detectors.

2. Precise photoelectric guidance

Tactical missiles, cruise missiles and anti-missile interceptors almost all use infrared seekers and infrared homing guidance technology, which has evolved from point source to imaging guidance and has been widely used in precision guidance weapon systems. It realizes intelligent guidance, has high sensitivity, high resolution, large operating range and the ability to automatically identify and track targets.

3. Night and infrared thermal imaging system

Night vision and infrared thermal imaging are the most commonly used and indispensable military means in today's modern warfare. Infrared night vision has developed to the second generation in the 1980s, such as 4N scanning type and focal plane staring type. Since the number of detection elements has been increased by an order of magnitude and the sensitivity has been greatly improved, the thermal imaging detection distance has also been increased accordingly. These military systems all use refrigerators to cool these infrared detectors to a low temperature environment of about 80K. Currently, the reliability of cryogenic refrigerators in infrared systems is still a weak link. Only the focus is on developing cryogenic refrigerators, reducing size and weight, and improving reliability. Only by doing so can infrared detection technology be more widely used in weapons and equipment.

4. Infrared remote sensing technology

Space remote sensing technology often uses infrared bands, which can be used to monitor battlefield situation, environment, and weather. Space coolers generally require radiant coolers and mechanical coolers with high reliability, long life and low energy consumption.
